2022 BMW X1 Review

Performance

Efficiency and power converge under the hood of the BMW X5 thanks to the impressive powertrain packed inside. It all starts with the standard 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine. Able to crank out up to 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the motor will keep you cruising with ease.

Perfectly paired with the standard 8-speed STEPTRONIC Automatic transmission, this SUV is capable of some amazing feats. Along with smooth shifting abilities and breathtaking power, the STEPTRONIC transmission also includes Sport and Manual shift modes.

As you customize your drive experience and enjoy the power the X1 has to offer, buckle in and enjoy the comfortable interior of this SUV.

Interior

You’ll find plenty of space, amenities, and technologies inside the cabin of the BMW X1. With seating for five passengers, 41.9 inches of front headroom and 39.4 inches of second-row headroom, and SensaTec upholstery on your side, every rider will be comfortable.

The Multi-zone Climate Control system will keep the interior at the ideal temperature. The power front seats are easily adjusted so you can relax on the road. The driver’s seat even comes with a memory function so no matter how the seat is repositioned, it can readjust to your specifications at the touch of button.

Top it off with the standard HiFi Sound System which includes seven speakers, and it’s easy to see that the X1 will make you and your passengers feel right at home.

Trim Levels

Customizing your X1 is simple with these two trim options. The main difference between them is their drivetrains, since the standard sDrive system employs front-wheel drive, while the available xDrive uses all-wheel drive:

  • sDrive28i
  • xDrive28i

While sDrive is sure to offer a dependably smooth ride, xDrive is great for adventurous drivers who need extra traction on the road. When tackling icy streets and slippery highways, xDrive is able to adjust the amount of torque being sent to each tire to achieve optimal performance.

Additionally, you’ll find a slight difference in their acceleration abilities. The X1 sDrive28i can go from zero to 60 MPH in as little as 6.6 seconds. While that’s nothing to sneeze at, the X1 xDrive28i can shave a bit of time off that to offer acceleration in just 6.3 seconds.
